White Church

The peculiarity of Gogi Lazarashvili’s artistic language is based on originality of variety perceive of the Universe. The dynamical manner of depiction and completely owning the artistic – decorative features that of the color. The Universe, expressed by the author is characterized with inner emotion and with acute perceive of phenomena too. “White Church” represents the artist’s private attitude towards the Christian faith and moral that is clearly underlined by the inscription on the upper part of the composition-“God stays with us”. Lazarashvili’s interest towards this theme mustn’t be accidental for such tragic for Georgian history period of 1989.Treating the method of synthesis of defined invoices the painter achieves the most expressive realization of the theme. With the help of double interpretation – maintaining its visual image, the point simultaneously includes a little bit over-dosed abstractive elements, thus gaining expressiveness and expressive sonority. This point is forced with different scale relativity structure and religious inscriptions, the careless manner and color combination, requiring discussion and deep thought.

The Kiss

Gogi Lazarashvili’s aesthetics tend to share the traditions of European fine art. In this work the artist applies the periphrasis of artistic-image related structures typical of Gustave Klimt – Art Nuovo coryphaeus and at that offers his own version. The ornamental character of the painting enables the artist to use a variety of pictorial-decorative combinations in his art. The composition based on the compatibility of the natural and ornamental-decorative, realistic and utterly conventional forms is characterized as emotional and pictorial-decorative. The surface of the painting seems to have lost touch with a figurative expression and turns into abstraction. The utterly conventional sweetheart figures are shown against a deeply stylized background. The face depicting manner maintains the signs of objective reality whereas the bodies and the background turn into a decorative plain surface. Here we find the co-existence of abstract figurative art postulates. The painting title which is given through relief letters on the left assumes some hinting function apart from composition-decorative one. The replica of Gustave Klimt’s “Kiss” offered by Lazarishvili attracts the viewer’s attention by its original interpretation and decorative chromaticity.
