Biography

Born in 1968 in the bustling city of Tbilisi, Georgia, Mamuka Didebashvili (also known as Mamuka Dideba) began his artistic journey at the Nikoladze Art School. From there, he went on to study painting at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, where he honed his skills and developed his unique style.

Didebashvili is known for his work in both figurative and abstract painting, and has been exhibiting his work at art fairs across Georgia and the world for over two decades. His late mature portraits, in particular, showcase his ability to merge these two styles together seamlessly.

Didebashvili's paintings are characterized by their use of the intricate and demanding technique, and his satirical depiction of human charachters, introducing a witty commentary on the old masters works with subtle comical poses or actions depicted in his painting. His use of layered oil painting technique which was popular among the old masters of the Northern Renaissance such as Jan Van Eyck. Which is noticable in the uncanny realism that can be seen in his paintings but his vibrant vision and use of color pallate creates a unparalled works of art. Be it in abstract paintings where the colors are translucent and bringing to the viewer the feeling of movment or portraits that are on verge of leaping into reality.

Didebashvilis work has been exhibited at art fairs across the globe, including in the UK, Ireland, the USA, Europe, and Russia. His paintings are a testament to his skill and dedication to his craft, and have made a lasting contribution to the Georgian avant-garde movement.
