Biography
Tamar Minashvili (Georgian, b. 1964) is an artist, book designer, graphic artist, and educator born in Tbilisi. Her practice moves between painting, drawing, illustration, and symbolic figuration, with an emphasis on line, narrative, and the expressive possibilities of color.
Minashvili studied at the Jacob Nikoladze School from 1980 to 1984 and later entered the Tbilisi Apollon Kutateladze Fine Arts Academy. She completed postgraduate studies in book illustration from 1991 to 1993. Since 1995, she has taught drawing and painting at the Faculty of Architecture, Department of Monumental Art, at the Academy of Arts. She has been a member of the Union of Artists of Georgia since 1997 and, since 2009, has served as professor of painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts.
Works including Angel in Tears, Dove of Peace, Flora, Judith, and Girl With Flowers reflect her sustained engagement with image, story, and human tenderness. Minashvili has participated in exhibitions and artistic projects in Georgia and abroad, including presentations in France, Italy, the United States, Romania, Iran, Lithuania, and other countries.
